For a scene I just started animating, I shot 3 versions of reference and combined them with my current blocking pass.
A bit lengthy on the setup, but it should help me really nail the timing and poses.
…And it was a pretty fun approach.
Definitely getting there, but *really* gotta slow down the monkey’s timing after the drop. After that, it’ll be mostly about tweaking all the poses and tweens, and then more overlap, and fixing the lip sync.
Here’s the third version of my Basic Guy run cycle…
Feb 3: version 3: 3/4 view
Feb 3: version 3: no more treadmills!!!
A first version of my new reel: All the scenes I worked on last year tossed together chronologically in whatever format I currently have them. From here I’ll cut, rearrange, edit, and most importantly, add new scenes.
Also, I wanted to post this to check how the video/site border theming jive.
Working on a juggling cycle with “Basic Guy”
version 1 – pretty pleased with the general timing and poses, but still needs some tweaking, especially in the hands
Time to get back to the animation basics: I need to work on finaling, and I think it’ll be much better practice for me to work on lots of really short shots instead of something longer.
First up: a walk cycle with “Basic Guy”…
version 3 – pretty happy with this now, but would love some feedback (more…)
This one is in the really early stages: I’ve got a lot of the poses, but the timing is waaaay off, mainly because I wanted to keep the timeline very open so I could easily add extra poses, etc…
Late blocking pass of a dinosaur walking, jumping, sliding, and accelerating to a run.
I think the major motions are about right now, next step is all the fun details that’ll make it actually look good…
Still could use some pose & timing tweaks, but other than that, it’s all about cleaning up and tweaking the curves now. (more…)
